During
a recent visit to Thailand, Victoria Elder took this early
evening photo of a flight of bats emerging from a cave on the
side of a mountain and flying off into the night.
This event occurs every day, just after sundown. The area has a
sacred tradition to the local Thais and many people gather
to watch this nightly show. Notice
the bright yellow-orange object that was captured on the
far right of the photo. There was no moon in the sky
at the time and other photos show the bats with no such
object. The dark area in the lower left are trees that cover the side
of the mountain. The photo was taken with a Kodak Digital
4330 DX with flash off and set for automatic focus. The
yellow-orange object
has no explanation. |
